The highest hotel occupancy rate was recorded in Benguela (99.9 percent), although it was not the province that welcomed the most tourists.
In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the government reported that "Benguela, with a hotel occupancy rate of 99.9 percent, welcomed 3100 tourists, Namibe (99.8 percent) 4309, Cuanza Sul (93.6 percent) 1653 and Malanje (94.3 percent) welcomed 3555, in the period in question, on the occasion of the National Hero's Day".
This hotel occupancy rate reflects the "growing trend that the tourism sector" has been experiencing recently, with growth of around 9.2 percent in the first seven months of this year (from January to July), compared to the same period in 2023.
"Data assessed by the Executive's economic team indicate that hotels welcomed 847,971 visitors in the first seven months of this year, while guesthouses and other establishments registered 334,605 guests", reports the Government.
In the period in question, 83,587 tourists entered the country, compared to 75,675 in the same period last year.
According to the statement, in July, the number of occupied beds increased by 40 percent, "in line with the growth in the number of tourist arrivals, which stood at 13.8 percent".
This dynamic made it possible to create 2494 jobs, compared to 1535 in the same period in 2023.
