"We are the second province with the largest hotel chain in the country in terms of classification, which means that from what has been our statistical data on tourist reception, we received 11 thousand tourists in the first half of this year, which is positive and challenging", he said, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

Among the visitors who passed through Benguela in the period in question, tourists from countries such as Portugal, United States of America, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, Germany, South Africa, among others, stand out.

Regarding the sites that most caught the attention of tourists during their visit to the province, according to the data released by Pascoal Luís in the meeting with cultural agents from Benguela, there are, for example, the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Cathedral, the Church of Nossa Senhora do Pópulo, the National Archeology Museum, the Municipal Administration Garden and Largo da Peça. This list also includes the Zaire Boat (Lobito), as well as the beaches.

Quoted by Jornal de Angola, the director said that the highlight of the visits was the tourists who passed through Benguela on the Rovus Train, coming from Tanzania, and that there were approximately 80 tourists of different nationalities on board.

In addition to these tourists, in his report, the official also mentioned the visit of tourists from Brazil as part of the cultural exchange between Angola and that country.

According to the director, Benguela has 32 hotels, four aparthotels, among others, with more than 1240 similar restaurant units associated.

Quoted by Jornal de Angola, he said there was a classification of infrastructures in the hotel sector and in this way it was also possible, on the other hand, especially in the cultural sector, to identify artists and composers with "some qualifications", adding: "Even because it involves give feedback, voice and time to high-level artists and hold a strategic meeting with the province's hotel units, mainly those that receive the largest number of tourists in order to have personal presentations of these artists who go to these units and which is regulated by a service provision contract".

On the other hand, he highlighted the action that is underway, especially in identifying new bays, in the south of the province, which will increase tourist interest in the country.
