The signing of the agreement took place this Wednesday in Porto Amboim, in the province of Cuanza Sul, according to a statement from the Cuanza Sul government, to which VerAngola had access.
"The National Youth Council and the company Peixe Bom, part of the WKP group, signed a memorandum of cooperation, which aims to train 600 young people from the province of Cuanza Sul, by 2027", reads the note.
The document was signed by Isaías Kalunga, president of the CNJ, and by Francisco Pereira, president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the company Peixe Bom, in an act witnessed by the governor of Cuanza Sul, Mara Quiosa.
"The company has undertaken to train, on a paid basis, 200 young people annually, until 2027, who as trainers will have to guide other young people in their communities, where as part of its social responsibility, the company Peixe Bom is committed to building tanks for fish farming, to promote self-employment", reads the statement.
According to Angop, the agreement aims to train fifty unemployed young people every three months, preparing them for the job market.
During the signing ceremony, which took place after a visit to the fishing companies Wangfestão – KP and Peixe Bom, the provincial governor considered that this act "aims to increase the youth employability rate in the province and contribute to reducing poverty".
Mara Quiosa guaranteed institutional support from local authorities for the duration of the agreement, which establishes training for young people to produce tilapia, as well as paid internships, as part of the government's employment support program.
"We must congratulate the signing of the protocol, as it represents a significant gain, as it will enable young people to enter academic and productive life", she said, quoted by Angop.
Isaías Kalunga stated that young people from that province have the opportunity to train and, in the future, set up their own business and hire other young people, while the company's CEO stated that young people can benefit from this training opportunity provided.
The CEO also said that they are "ready to provide all support to young people to be trained in the project, taking into account the lack of employment.
According to Angop, the aquaculture project is under construction in Cazanga (Pinda), in an area of over 50 hectares, and will have 300 tanks, 60 of which have already been completed. Once completed, in 2027, the company will have a production of 36 thousand tons of tilapia per year, as well as employing 3000 employees.
