"With plans to increase the share of natural gas in its energy matrix to 25 percent by 2025, Angola is promoting investments in large associated (which is together with oil in geological reservoirs) and non-associated gas projects," says a publication responsibility of Angola Oil & Gas 2024, the country's biggest event linked to oil and gas.
Angola is a major exporter of LNG (liquefied natural gas) and the Angolan gas market today offers lucrative opportunities in the LPG (mixture of condensable gases), gas for energy and distribution sectors, according to the September newsletter, which Lusa had access this Thursday to the conference scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of October, in Luanda.
Angola's first non-associated gas project – which includes two well pads, an onshore gas processing plant and a connection to the country's only LNG facility in the Quiluma and Maboqueiro (Q&M) fields – is close to reaching completion first production in 2026, he adds.
In addition to the Q&M fields, Angola is promoting other hydrocarbon projects, creating opportunities to increase raw material for Angola LNG, namely with the Sanha Lean Gás Conenection projects (offshore submarine gas pipeline system located on the country's coast) which should start production at the end of 2024 and two others, it says in the "newsletter".
National gas exports in the second quarter of 2024 totaled one million metric tons, of which 82.45 percent represented LNG, totaling a value of 566.84 million dollars of exported volume, according to official data.
Challenges, opportunities, investments, agreements and innovations in the Angolan oil and gas industry will be addressed at this AOG 2024 conference, promoted by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas with sector agencies and the African Energy Chamber.
