In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, CIPRA only reported on the completion of the meeting, without providing details on what was discussed: "The National Security Council met today [Monday] at the Presidential Palace, in a session guided by by the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, João Lourenço".
The note explains that the National Security Council concerns the "consulting body" of the head of state "for matters relating to the conduct of National Security policy and strategy."
This body includes the Vice President of the Republic, as well as the Presidents of the National Assembly, the Constitutional and Supreme Courts and the Attorney General of the Republic.
In addition, the council also includes "ministers of State and ministers appointed by the President of the Republic, in addition to other entities determined by the Holder of Executive Power".
