According to a statement from the Angolan National Diamond Trading Company (Sodiam E.P.), the diamonds auctioned were produced by the Lulo, Kaixepa, Chitotolo, and Luele Mining Companies, and the total net proceeds from the sale amounted to 865.19 carats.
The statement states that the sale of special diamonds from the Lulo mine raised 8.4 million dollars, with the Luele mine receiving 6.2 million dollars and the Kaixepa mine receiving 928,000 dollars.
"Two stones from the Chitotolo Mining Company were auctioned but not sold at the initiative of the mine, which, for the third time, rejected the price offers received," the statement emphasizes.
A total of 27 companies participated in the auction, held in late June, representing the world's major diamond markets and centers.
According to Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, chairman of Sodiam's board of directors, quoted in the statement, "the results obtained in this auction confirmed the improvements in demand and prices that have been seen in the market in recent weeks, which brings some comfort to national production in general and to mining companies in particular."
"Sodiam and the various institutions of the national diamond industry will continue to monitor market trends to better negotiate the selling prices of our diamonds," said Eugénio Bravo da Rosa.
