According to a statement from CIPRA, that VerAngola had access to, the distinction was made by decree.

"The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, João Lourenço, signed a decree ordering the award of the Medal of Valor of the Angolan Armed Forces, 1st Class, to Lieutenant General Luís Gabriel Patrício Teixeira 'Cagy,'" the statement reads.

With this distinction, CIPRA adds, Lieutenant General 'Cagy' "thus joins hundreds of other valiant members of the FAA to whom the nation pays special recognition for their exemplary contribution to the elevation of Angola and the Angolan Armed Forces."

It is worth remembering that last week, João Lourenço decorated hundreds of FAA service members, including General Higino Carneiro and former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos.
