Adérito Areias company invests three million in a salt refining and drying plant

Three million dollars is the value of the investment made by the company of the largest salt producer in Benguela, businessman Adérito Areias, in the construction of yet another factory for the refining and drying of this product.

Anabela Mendes:

Production growth next year is among the goals of the company operating in this sector. According to the businessman, the company plans to start producing 400,000 tonnes of salt annually, against the current 250,000 tonnes.

This is where the new refining and drying plant comes in. Adérito Areias, quoted by Angop, explained that this new factory – which has an investment budgeted at 3 million dollars – will serve to achieve this objective.

He also made it known that "the company is already producing iodized salt for the whole country and there is no need to import the product".

The businessman also took the opportunity to consider that when the Lobito Corridor becomes fully operational, the country will be the leader in salt exports in Central Africa, writes Angop.

Adérito Areias pointed out that transport is cheap and fast, predicting a significant increase in trade, especially with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The businessman also mentioned the fish business, which he considered to have the potential to be exported to nearby countries. "With the entry of new vessels and modernization of the fleets, we will have other levels of capture and quality fish", he said, quoted by Angop.

He admitted that the conditions had been created, alluding to the 300 million dollars that will be made available by the Executive to entities in the fishing and agriculture sector, with a view to transforming the country into a reference in Africa in these areas, writes Angop.

The official also took the opportunity to give advice to colleagues about this amount: "It's not just about getting the money, we have to create jobs and wealth and replace imports with national production."

He also gave his opinion on the next five years, having considered that Angola will have a more robust economy, justified by the "greater openness of the Government, since last year, with which it was possible to analyze a series of problems that were solved".
