This campaign to fight hunger is supported by the Global Initiative of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBRGI), of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The global humanitarian campaign, introduced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Governor of Dubai, distributed millions of meals across Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Donations from around the world have raised funds to serve 216 million meals to people in need.

In Angola, the NGO Luz Banco Alimentar distributed a total of 170 tons of food, from May to August, to various charities that the organization continuously supports, namely MUSA (Angola Rescue), Centro Dom Bosco, Movigreja, among others.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, the organization explains that the objective of the "100 Million Meals" initiative is to mitigate the difficulties that covid-19 brought to vulnerable populations in the country.

Hiba Nesr, President of LBA and director of Social Responsibility at Angoalissar, stressed that "this initiative confirms that strategic and sustainable humanitarian work can help continue the fight against hunger."

The official praised the United Arab Emirates, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation and the Regional Food Bank Network for entrusting this mission to Associação Luz Banco Alimentar. "We will continue to work on building more alliances that will help us achieve our mission in the fight against hunger and malnutrition in Angola," she added.
