Covid-19: Angola announces 543 more cases and 11 deaths in 24 hours

Angola recorded over 543 cases of covid-19 and 11 deaths, while another 143 people recovered from the disease, health authorities announced this Wednesday.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, 324 cases were registered in Luanda, 52 in Huambo, 36 in Cuanza Norte, 29 in Huíla, 25 in Cuanza Sul, 21 in Malanje, 14 in Uíge, 11 in Zaire, 10 in Cabinda, seven in Cuando Cubango, seven in Namibe, five in Bié and two in Bengo, between 3 months and 95 years, of which 284 are male and 259 are female.

In this period, 11 deaths were reported, seven men and four women, between 46 and 72 years old, and 143 people, between 1 month and 87 years old, recovered from the disease.

The laboratories processed 5475 samples, in a cumulative of 999,870 processed.

Angola has had 56,583 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 1537 died, 47,564 recovered from the disease, 7482 active, with 343 hospitalized patients and 118 people in institutional quarantine.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,752,875 deaths worldwide, out of 232.27 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
