Covid-19: Angola announces 292 new cases and six deaths

Angola has recorded 292 more cases of covid-19, bringing the total to 50,738, as well as six deaths and 182 recoveries from the disease, the health authorities' epidemiological bulletin revealed this Monday.

Of the new cases, 164 male and 128 female, between 1 and 85 years old, 197 are from the province of Luanda, 22 from Cabinda, 20 from Huambo, 14 from Cuando Cubango, 12 from Namibe, nine from Benguela, six from Huila, five from Bié, three from Moxico, two from Uíge, and Cuanza Norte and Malanje with one each.

In the last 24 hours, six deaths were registered, of four men and two women, between 28 and 76 years old, and 182 recovered from the disease.

Angola counts since the beginning of the pandemic with 50,738 confirmed cases of covid-19, of which 1345 deaths, 4559 active and 44,834 recovered from the disease.

A total of 1409 samples have been processed by RT-PCR and the cumulative count is 946,515 tests.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,627,854 deaths worldwide, among more than 224.56 million infections of the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
