Portugal's support to the National Vaccination Plan against covid-19 in Angola began in July, and three other batches of vaccines have been delivered, totaling 370,000 doses, to which will be added another 200,000 vaccines, accompanied by the necessary material for its administration.

The vaccines will be delivered by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Portuguese Embassy in Angola, José Manuel Correia, to the Health Minister, Silvia Lutucuta, this Thursday at 9:30pm, at the 4th of February Airport.

The Portuguese government has committed to provide about three million doses of vaccines to Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) and East Timor under the Action Plan in the health response to the pandemic covid-19.

"The operationalization of this action is the result of a joint effort of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, namely through Camões - Institute for Cooperation and Language and the Embassy of Portugal in Luanda, and the Ministry of Health of Portugal, through the Directorate General of Health (DGS) and the National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed) and the Task Force of the National Vaccine Plan against covid-19 in Portugal," indicates the statement of the Embassy.

In recent weeks, in addition to Portugal, other countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom have donated vaccines to Angola.
