French Schneider Electric wants to start operating in Angola as of next year

The French company Schneider Electric, a company specialized in electric energy production, is interested in establishing itself in Angola as of next year.

The multinational company already had its expansion plans ready to take them out of the drawer as of 2019. However, these ended up not seeing the light of day due to the economic situation generated, in 2020, with the arrival of covid-19.

Amel Chadli, vice president of Strategy for Africa and the Middle East, quoted by Jeune Afrique magazine and Jornal de Angola, explained that they continue to "strengthen the position, progressively, on the African continent, although the implementation of this plan has been delayed due to the emergence of the covid-19 pandemic."

However, he says he believes that "the project will start in early 2022."

Amel Chadli explained that the company has "great interest" in the face of the increasing trend of urbanization and industrialization, and there is a need to effectively manage energy resources. For this reason, with the expansion to Angola, the multinational intends to develop projects capable of responding to this demand.

Thus, the company decided to expand to Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, and Senegal.

The responsible did not reveal the amount to be invested in each of the countries, but assured that there are sufficient means to meet the needs and challenges arising from economic and population growth in the post-pandemic phase.

In a second phase, said Amel Chadli, the company should expand its investments to the supply of equipment and construction of infrastructure to manage and treat water.
