Angola Oil&Gas Conference promises business opportunities and sustainable investment

Sustainable investment and business opportunities, energy transition and regional synergies are some of the themes highlighted at the Angola Oil & Gas (AOL) Conference that brings together in Luanda, the main players in the sector and institutional officials.

For two days, on Thursday and Friday, dozens of individuals, including African ministers of the energy sector and representatives of oil multinationals, will gather at the Talatona Conference Center for the high-level event they will be attending. highlight the oil and gas industry in Angola, the second largest producer in sub-Saharan Africa.

"The objective of this event is to promote and promote opportunities in the oil and gas sector in Angola, which we understand as an engine of economic development, bringing together the great leaders of industries with companies and public institutions," Energy Capital's international conference director told Lusa & Power (ECP), entity that promotes the event.

This year, "we are trying to attract the attention of neighboring countries that are also producers", continued the official, indicating that the Ministers of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo will be present, among others, in an "attempt to create synergies" between these regions and develop cross-border strategies for sector development.

Another objective is to "directly attract investors" to Angola and debate issues such as combating the decline in production and the energy transition.

In addition to government officials, representatives of energy companies such as the French Total, the British BP and the Italian Eni, the North American Exxon, the state-owned company Sonangol and representatives of the financial sector, among others, will be present.

The EPC investment platform is also producing an investment report that will look at the most relevant issues in the sector, which is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2022, to guide investors on issues such as "market resilience in post covid -19, the development of marginal fields, gas monetization strategies, the expansion of 'downstream', advanced production techniques, as well as local content and domestic capacity", informs the promoter of the event in a statement.

On the international front, the ECP is working with the Angolan authorities to bring high-level Angolan delegations to major international stages, including the ECP's USA-Africa Energy Forum (USAEF), which runs from 4-5 October in Houston ( United States) and the African Energy Week (AEW), which takes place from 9 to 12 November in Cape Town, South Africa, organized by the African Energy Chamber.
