Government extends validity of tourist visas until December 31

The Government extended the validity of tourist visas, short-term or border, until 31 December 2020 due to the closure of borders enacted on 20 March to contain the covid-19 pandemic.

:

The executive decree, dated September 4 and published in Diário da República, signed by the Minister of the Interior, Eugénio César Laborinho, states that national borders remain closed and that it is important, therefore, to take measures “to ensure the legal certainty of citizens who are absent from the national territory, as well as those who are in it, with short-term visas that have since expired, or under visa waiver agreements ”.

In view of the uncertainties regarding the end of the pandemic, tourism or short-stay visas that have expired since February 28 and whose holders have not been able to leave national territory due to the closure of borders, will be extended until December 31, 2020.

Documents relating to the stay of foreign nationals whose validity will be extended until 31 December also include a residence permit, refugee card, investor visa, work visa, temporary stay visa and study visit, a provision that applies “only documents of citizens absent from the national territory ”.

On 10 August, Angola changed the rules in force for the calamity situation, extending the opening hours of public transport, shops and restaurants in Luanda, but maintained the sanitary fence in the province, measures that continue until this Tuesday.
