Country registers another 79 new cases of covid-19 and two deaths in the last 24 hours

The country registered 79 new cases and two more deaths per covid-19 in the last 24 hours, informed this Monday the Secretary of State for Public Health.

The new cases of infection by the new coronavirus are all from Luanda, are between 5 and 71 years of age, 54 males and 25 females, said Secretary of State Franco Mufinda.

Two men of 59 and 70 years, from Luanda, died due to the disease.

According to official information, another 106 people were reported as recovered.

The total number of reported cases is now 4797, 176 deaths, 1813 recovered, 2808 active, with 13 critically ill and 15 severe.

A total of 1500 samples were analyzed out of a cumulative total of 88,309 harvests.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused more than one million deaths worldwide since December last year, including 1957 in Portugal, and more than 33.1 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 35,440 confirmed deaths in more than 1.4 million infected in 55 countries, according to the latest pandemic statistics on the continent.

Among African countries that have Portuguese as their official language, Angola leads in number of deaths and Mozambique in number of cases. Angola registers 176 deaths and 4797 cases, followed by Equatorial Guinea (83 deaths and 5028 cases), Mozambique (58 deaths and 7983 cases), Cape Verde (57 deaths and 5771 cases), Guinea-Bissau (39 deaths and 2362 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (15 deaths and 911 cases).

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.
