It is in Samba Lucala that one of the largest and most recent agricultural projects in the country is developed. Occupying an area of three thousand hectares, the initiative came from the Executive and intends to satisfy the internal needs of cereals and then look at exports.

:

The Fazenda Samba Lucala - located in the municipality of Samba Caju, province of Cuanza Norte - received this Thursday the visit of António Francisco de Assis, minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, entity responsible for the project.

To be implemented for about a year under the responsibility of the company Gesterra, this is the largest cereal production project in the province. According to the minister, the farm expects to harvest in this agricultural campaign (still the start-up year), about 7000 tons of corn and 4000 of soybeans, taken from a cultivated area of around 2000 hectares.

This project, António António de Assis said, intends to transform Cuanza Norte into the "corn triangle" in the region. "In Cuanza Norte, a major project is being born where the initial investment is from the State, but which will allow to leverage this whole area. We can create a new triangle of corn and soy here. Usually, when we talk about the triangle of the we have corn in Huila, in the South, and this may be our triangle of corn in the North, "he said, quoted by Angop.

The holder of the Agriculture portfolio also highlighted the numerous advantages of the region for the agrarian sector, namely good altitude, abundant rain and, on the other hand, the low population density, which will reduce the incidence of eventual conflicts over land, etc.

Fazenda Samba Lucala has a production capacity of around 14,000 tons of corn per year and thousands of tons of soybeans, rice and pasta.

The project, budgeted at approximately US $ 52 million, also includes an integration component of families living in the area, through the creation of basic infrastructures, as well as the construction of a dam with a storage capacity of three million meters cubic feet of water.

The objective now is to conclude these works and increase the cultivation area and double production in next year's agricultural campaign.

So far, the project has generated about a hundred jobs, a number that is expected to increase in the future alongside the development of the farm.
