The Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB), together with the Ngana Zenza Foundation for Community Development (FDC), launched the ReviengAngola project this Saturday, during the reopening of the F.C. Vila Clotilde field in Luanda, facilities that were rehabilitated under the project.

The program essentially aims to requalify and build infrastructures for sports, directing them towards youth teams.

The reopening ceremony of the F.C. Vila Clotilde field was presided over by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço (godmother of the project), who unveiled the plaque and cut the ribbon. The event was attended by national and international figures, notably the First Ladies of the Republics of Cape Verde, Mozambique, Nigeria and São Tomé and Príncipe.

Also present were the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, the Minister of Social Action, Family and Women's Promotion, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto and the President of the Angolan Basketball Federation, Moniz Silva.

The agenda also included two games in the Under-14 age group and demonstrations of skills in Karate, Golf and Fencing.

The event also paid tribute to Fernando José Matos de Sousa, a figure who has been with F.C. Vila Clotilde for 57 years, first as a player, then as a coach and now as a member of the club's board.

F.C. Vila Clotilde is a club founded in 1953 and has trained numerous athletes who have gone on to become champions for the national team. Currently, the club has a total of 305 athletes in the following sports: Basketball (with 155 athletes), Karate (with 80 athletes), Golf (with 40 athletes) and Fencing (with 30 athletes).

The initiative is sponsored by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, and is nationwide. It aims to create, from the next few days, conditions for clubs to have more and better prepared athletes in the future, which will benefit the national teams (men's and women's) in the future.

The ReviengAngola Programme will transform vacant structures into functional playing courts, turning them into incubators for new talents that can bring life to various communities in the country. It will be a way to promote the practice of sports associated with a healthy lifestyle, explains a statement sent to VerAngola.
