PR receives medals in fighting modalities that it considers “a pride for Angola”

João Lourenço received this Monday, at the Presidential Palace, athletes from various fighting modalities. The President of the Republic was especially pleased with the conquest of 67 medals by the Angolan delegations in the African Jiu-jitsu, Judo and Wrestling championships.

Angolan athletes from these different modalities competed in championships this year, both in Angola, Algeria and Morocco, having won a total of 29 gold, 22 silver and 16 bronze medals.

João Lourenço considered the accomplishments a source of pride for Angola, reinforcing that these young people are on the right path. "Our motto should be for the youth. No drugs, no alcohol, yes sports and yes studies", said the PR, addressing the athletes.

According to Angop, the PR stated that these achievements represent the positive side of Angolan youth, a side that embraces noble causes, among which sports practice stands out.

During the ceremony, which took place this Monday in Cidade Alta, three medals and a trophy were given to the PR – in a symbolic way.

With the achievement of this medal, the country occupied prominent places in championships of the variants of the fighting modality, thus guaranteeing the right of the three teams to qualify for the world championships, which will take place in three European cities.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, was also present at this tribute to the athletes.
