Authorities extend the deadline of the international tender for the management of the port of Lobito

The evaluation committee of the international public tender for the management of the port of Lobito, in the province of Benguela, decided to extend until September 30 the submission of bid proposals at the request of competitors.

Nelson Santhola:

In a note, the commission stated that, under authorization from the Angolan Ministry of Transport, it decided to extend the deadline for the submission of bids to 30 September, "at the request of bidders seeking to improve the content of their bids".

The commission also said that it "pleased" the interest of other interested competitors who had not been able to acquire the tender parts, which now can do so, "thus demonstrating the great interest and economic viability" of the terminal from the port of Lobito.

The Philippines, China, the United Arab Emirates and France are the countries represented in the bids for this international public tender, opened on May 17, for the management of the multipurpose terminal at the port of Lobito.

Realized equity of not less than 25 million dollars and an average annual turnover for the last three fiscal years of not less than 100 million dollars are some of the requirements for the competition.

Competing companies must also have, directly or through subsidiaries, a participation of not less than 25 percent in at least three port terminal concession operations with an average annual handling volume of not less than 250,000 TEU (unit equivalent to 20 feet) .

The competition is aimed at companies or associations of foreign companies that have proven experience in the management of port terminals and that meet the required requirements.
