Angola suffers its second defeat in Afrobasket

The national senior men's basketball team lost, this Thursday, with the host Rwanda, by 68-71, in the second game of the Group A round of the Afrobasket. This is the second consecutive loss for the 'Palancas Negras' in the competition, after having lost the first game with Cape Verde.

In the first period of the game, Angola allowed a tie at 20 points. However, in the second period, the national team managed to turn the score around, and went into halftime leading 38-35.

During the third period, the 'Palancas Negras' continued in the lead, increasing the advantage to 61-55.

Although the outcome seemed positive for the national team, the host Rwanda managed to overcome the effort of Angola and win the match with a lead of three points (68-71).

Nothing is yet lost, but with two defeats, the qualification of the 'Palancas Negras' is conditioned by the next game. The team will have to win Saturday's game, against Congo Democrático, if it wants to qualify for the last 16.

For now, Angola's group is led by Rwanda (four points), followed by Congo (three points). Cape Verde occupies the third place in the table (three points) and Angola comes last with two points.

The first qualified of the group automatically goes to the quarter-finals, while the second and third places qualified for the round of 16.
