Covid-19: Angola reports 89 cases and nine deaths in the last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, Angola has registered 89 new cases of covid-19, nine deaths, and 62 recovered patients, according to health authorities.

Among the new cases, 56 male and 33 female, aged between one month and 87 years, 36 were diagnosed in the province of Luanda, 24 in Benguela, 15 in Huila, 11 in Zaire, two in Malanje and one in Lunda Sul.

Nine deaths were also reported, five males and four females, aged between 39 and 87 years old. Three were registered in Benguela province, while Huíla and Malanje recorded two deaths each and Luanda and Moxico one each.

The authorities also recorded 62 recovered patients, aged between 1 and 87.

Laboratories processed 1096 samples, for a cumulative 905,048 tests.

Angola has 47,168 confirmed cases of covid-19, of which 2710 are active, 1201 have died, and 43,257 have recovered.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,492,854 deaths worldwide, among more than 215.87 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent balance sheet from the agency France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
