Covid-19: Angola with 150 new infections and eight deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola has registered 150 new cases of covid-19, eight deaths and 103 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, says the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health released this Thursday.

The positive cases refer to 14 of the country's 18 provinces, with the highest number of cases reported in the province of Luanda (72), followed by Huambo (15) and Bié (14), aged between 1 and 74 years, being 83 males and 67 females.

The deaths, five males and three females, aged 18 to 93 years, were registered in the provinces of Lunda Sul (two), Malanje (two), Bié, Benguela, Luanda and Moxico (one each).

In the same period, 103 people between 9 months and 71 years were considered recovered, being 36 in Lunda Norte, 24 in Moxico, 13 in Lunda Sul, 10 in Cunene, four in Cuando Cubango, the same number in Huila and Zaire, three in Benguela and Luanda, and one each in Bié and Huambo.

Angola presents an epidemiological picture that totals 45.325 positive cases, 1133 deaths, 42.080 recovered from the disease and 2112 active, of which eight in critical condition, 25 severe, 50 moderate, 30 mild and 1999 asymptomatic, with 113 people hospitalized, 227 in institutional quarantine and 738 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

As for the tests, the laboratories processed in the last 24 hours 2802 samples by RT-PCR, making a cumulative of 871,874 processed samples, with a positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

At the entry and exit points of Luanda, 423 people were tested in the period in reference, on the basis of the antigen test.

The covid-19 has caused at least 4,392,364 deaths worldwide, among more than 209.2 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the latest balance of the agency France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
