In a statement sent to VerAngola, the Portuguese Embassy in Angola said that besides the vaccines, the material needed to administer the doses will also be delivered, including syringes and needles.
The note also said that the batch will be delivered in a ceremony to be held this Thursday at the 4 de Fevereiro Airport, upon the arrival of the TAP flight (9:30 pm), which will be attended by the Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, and the Portuguese Ambassador in Angola, Pedro Pessoa e Costa.
"This is another unequivocal sign of the relationship of friendship and solidarity between the two countries," the statement said.
Remember that the first batch of vaccines provided by Portugal to Angola (about 50 thousand doses) was delivered last month by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and Augusto Santos Silva, Portuguese Minister of State and Foreign Affairs to Silvia Lutucuta.
"The Government of Portugal, under the Action Plan in the health response to the covid-19 pandemic between Portugal and the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) and East Timor, has made a commitment to provide about three million doses of vaccine to this set of six countries," the note adds.
