As usual, the data from Angola represent almost all the money sent by the Portuguese in the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).

In the opposite direction, Angolans working in Portugal sent to their country more than 1 million euros, which represents a rise of 53 percent against the 660 thousand euros sent in June last year.

Globally, remittances from Portuguese emigrants rose 6.9 percent to 306.2 million euros in June from the same period in 2020, with a drop of 2.1 percent in France, one of the largest source markets for these receipts.

Portuguese emigrants in Switzerland were those who sent the highest amount to Portugal, 88.9 million euros, which represents a rise of 9.25 percent year-on-year and is slightly above what was sent by Portuguese emigrants in France (88.6 million euros).

Foreigners working in Portugal sent 45.7 million euros in June, which represents a rise of 5.6 percent compared to the 43.2 million sent in June of last year, according to the BdP.
