Rosa da Silva de Almeida, the head of the Health sector at the Angolan Embassy in Portugal, had held the position since June 2017. However, with the dispatch, signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teté António, her duties now come to an end.
According to Novo Jornal, the dispatch does not give any reason for the resignation of the responsible.
The holder of the Foreign Relations portfolio decided to appoint João José Bastos dos Santos to replace Rosa da Silva de Almeida. The decision was revealed this Wednesday, in another dispatch, reveals Angop.
Vitorino Leonardo, general secretary of the Association of Angolan Patients in Portugal (ADAP), said this Thursday to Lusa that he has already learned of this replacement and now hopes that support for his compatriots will become a reality, not least because these patients are experiencing "serious problems.
"We have not yet been contacted, but we want to be welcomed by the ambassador and the new health officer of the embassy. They need to know the very serious situations these patients are going through in Portugal".
According to Vitorino Leonardo, there are about 600 Angolan patients in Portugal, 150 of whom live in two pensions in Lisbon that a month and a half ago stopped providing the only meal that these citizens took, due to the delay in the payment of subsidies by the Angolan government.
For this reason, ADAP promoted a demonstration on Monday, in front of this embassy, during which about 30 patients shouted that they are starving and that due to this lack of food their state of health is getting worse.
