Thus, in order to implement this transfer of responsibility into the 'hands' of INFOSI, Mário Oliveira, Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication officially launched, this Wednesday, the system that grants power and boosts the Internet in the country.
The minister, in statements at the launch, highlighted that the country aligns itself with good international practices in the use and management of the Internet, as one of the main modifying advantages of the 'ao' domain.
Quoted by Angop, Mário Oliveira said that with this measure, the domain will now be configured and made available on the Internet, with the supervision and administration of registered addresses, as well as with the prior approval of institutions and the prohibition of the registration of protected domains.
On the occasion, he took the opportunity to remember that on the 26th of last month the installation of a 'Core System' was completed, with hosting and management in the country, which is an advanced technology used in several countries to elevate domains to the level of the best in the world, aiming for more effective and safe management.
According to the minister, the implementation of the country's Core System CCTLD provided the necessary technical conditions for Angola to be able to apply and register the 'ao' domain, ensuring greater security and capacity to serve a greater number of customers, offering tailored support for smaller resellers, writes Angop.
Thus, he added that "all activities will be managed with the EPP protocol, internationally agreed for interoperability between all domains and their economic agents spread around the world".
André Pedro, general director of INFOSI, stated that the country's digital management and sovereignty is essential to control national domains, based on 'ao' and other derivatives ('.ORG.ao', '.Edu.ao ', '.Co.ao' and '.It.ao').
Quoted by Angop, he said that any website ending in '.ao' in global terms must point to the country, having also identified the domain '.ao' as owned by the Government, with domain assignments to be carried out for a period of one or five years with the possibility of renewal, adding that 'It.ao' is available for use of this domain for a price of five thousand kwanzas for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
The official also considered that certification ensures security in online commercial transactions, enabling the identification of website owners.
Finally, he also said that since June 26th, more than one million requests have been received, which will be made official from this Wednesday, writes Angop.
