Maria Bragança do Rosário: food security and international partnership are “extremely relevant” for the country

The Minister of State for the Social Area said, this Tuesday, at the start of the 39th Luanda International Fair (FILDA), that food security and international partnership are “extremely important for the country”.

Maria Bragança do Rosário, who was opening FILDA, which has the participation of nearly 1500 national and international exhibitors from around two dozen countries, including Portugal, stressed that the sustainability of food systems and the need to strengthen international ties are fundamental pillars for the country's economic development.

The minister stressed that during the fair current topics are planned to be addressed, which will allow adding value to the dynamics of perception of reality, challenges and opportunities of the agro-industry, logistics and certification chains, financial instruments to support investment, tourism and the promotion of quality culture for the promotion and internationalization of national production.

The 39th edition of FILDA, which runs until Sunday, in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE), has as its motto this year "Food Security and International Partnership: The Binomial of Economic Diversification".

According to Maria Bragança do Rosário, in an increasingly globalized world, marked by climate, geopolitical and social challenges, food security has become an undeniable priority, with economic diversification, in context, emerging as "a crucial strategy capable of to mitigate risks and create opportunities for growth".

"While international partnership allows for the exchange of knowledge, sharing of best practices and access to complementary resources", she noted.

During the fair, the Angola-Portugal Economic Forum will be held, which will be attended by the Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, who began an official visit to the country this Tuesday.

In Angola, there are around 1250 Portuguese or mixed-capital companies from all sectors of the Angolan economy.
