João Lourenço, who was speaking to the media, after a meeting with the Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, and the signing of legal instruments between the delegations of the two countries, highlighted the fact that it was Montenegro's first visit to Angola, shortly after of the first hundred days of governance and three months after being together in Lisbon to celebrate the 25th of April.
A fact "that reflects the importance that Portugal gives to relations of friendship and cooperation with a member country of the CPLP [Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries] which is Angola", said the President, stressing that the two countries, through thick and thin moments, they were always together.
"We supported each other in good times and bad times in Angola and Portugal and that is how our relationship will continue, it is a relationship between States, it is not between political parties", he continued, highlighting that whoever has the responsibility to define the strength policy that will govern in each country are the respective voters.
"We just have to respect the will of the voters. [We] have known how to respect this principle that relations are between States, which is why, throughout these 50 years [of independence], regardless of who is in power in a country or in the other, barely feel this change of chairs", he emphasized.
João Lourenço indicated that, with Portugal, Angola has developed cooperative relations that cover practically all areas of the economy and encouraged more Portuguese private investment in the country, particularly in the field of public infrastructures, as a market economy should provide greater space for the private sector.
João Lourenço stated that all Portuguese companies are welcome in Angola and that there is also an interest in Angolan companies growing and internationalizing through Portugal.
The head of state also spoke about the increase in the credit line by another 500 million euros, announced this Tuesday by the Portuguese prime minister, adding that the decision has already been made on the destination to be given to this amount, which he did not want to reveal.
João Lourenço also corrected the number of legal instruments that were signed this Tuesday morning, from eight to 12, saying that four more agreements were concluded in the last few hours, which demonstrates the importance of relations between the two countries.
On the other hand, and taking advantage of Montenegro's trip to the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), on Wednesday, where will have the opportunity to interact with Portuguese exhibitors, and to Benguela, on Thursday, where will be able to see projects carried out by Portuguese companies, João Lourenço pointed out that there is a "very large spectrum of opportunities to explore".
"This common effort must be constant to make the most of the potential of both countries", he highlighted.
