João Lourenço made the announcement at a press conference, after meeting with Ramos-Horta, at the Presidential Palace in Luanda, and signing three legal instruments.
The President highlighted the objective of "exploring paths of cooperation for the benefit of both countries and both peoples" and highlighted that this is José Ramos-Horta's second state visit to Angola, without any Angolan head of state having visited Timor-Leste.
"We will correct this situation, in international relations the principle of reciprocity must prevail", he stressed, stating that he has just accepted Ramos-Horta's invitation to visit Timor-Leste, which will happen "on the dates that diplomacy agrees".
He also said that among the various members of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Angola did not have diplomatic representation only in Timor-Leste, a situation that has now been "corrected".
"We have already opened an embassy in Dili, it is a sign that we have corrected the gap with the aim of increasing relations between our two countries", highlighted João Lourenço, expressing the desire to "put the bilateral joint commission to work", an important tool for things happen from now on.
He added, on the other hand, that the potential for cooperation between the two countries "has no limits".
"We have to know, feel where this potential exists and try to take better advantage of it".
