The provincial government of Namibe (GPN), in a statement to which VerAngola had access, informs that the future unit will operate at the Ngola Kimbanda hospital.
"Construction work is already underway on the hemodialysis unit that will operate at the Ngola Kimbanda hospital, located in Moçâmedes, to meet the imperative need faced by the health sector to care for kidney patients in Namibe", it reads in the statement.
The director of the provincial health office, Coríntios Miguel, informed that the Namibe hemodialysis unit will have 11 beds to serve 44 patients per day.
Speaking this Tuesday, at the V Ordinary Session of the GPN – which was guided by Archer Mangueira, governor of Namibe, "who was pleased to see the start of the works" –, Coríntios Miguel also informed about the beginning of work to requalify the intensive services zone at Ngola Kimbanda provincial hospital.
Furthermore, cited in the statement, the official guaranteed the "existence of a contingency plan to strengthen epidemiological surveillance and raise community awareness about monkeypox prevention".
According to the provincial government, the contract for the hemodialysis unit responds to the concern expressed to the President of the Republic by Archer Mangueira "in one of the Executive's meetings with the GPN, pending the construction of the new provincial hospital".
