Furthermore, according to the sentence, Arcanjo Maria do Nascimento was also subject to paying a court fee in the amount of 300 thousand kwanzas, said the Supreme Court, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

"The former Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia must also pay a court fee of 300 thousand kwanzas", the note reads.

According to judge advisor João Fuantoni, rapporteur of the case, advances the statement, it has not been proven that the former ambassador "will have benefited from a total amount of more than five million dollars, nor that he will have transferred the amount of 100 thousand dollars to his account".

Furthermore, João Fuantoni, cited by Angop, also said that the suspended sentence will allow the defendant to "maintain his normal life", as long as he returns the 31 thousand dollars to the embassy within the established deadline.

Arcanjo Maria do Nascimento's defense left a promise that he will file appeals.

"The defendant's defense, led by lawyer Frederico Vasco, promised to file an appeal and promises to appeal the decision," says the statement.

It is worth remembering that the former ambassador's trial began last year.
