The information was provided by the CES coordinator, José Otávio Van-Dúnem, at the end of the second plenary, who analyzed economic, business and social issues, highlighting the removal of the fuel subsidy in Angola, implementation, effect and impact in the short and long term.

"A topic on the agenda, a topic that is on the current agenda and for that very reason we are working to present proposals mainly to mitigate the social impact of the topic itself", underlined José Otávio Van-Dúnem.

Still in the economic area, the dynamization of agricultural and livestock production, the facilitation of trade, looking at its "strengths and weaknesses", which resulted in "very concrete proposals" to be taken to the holder of executive power.

"In the business area, we present the theme linked to the national strategy for the promotion of the transforming industry and strategic vision on the development of business and family agriculture in Angola, infrastructures, irrigation in the fight against climate uncertainty", said the coordinator.

José Otávio Van-Dúnem pointed out that in the social area, the counselors presented the theme of hunger and poverty, with a focus on "concrete emergency policies for this theme that devastates" the country and the population.

With regard to this issue, Sérgio Calundungo, a member of the council, told the press that the analysis was based on official data, which indicate that out of every 10 children under 5 years of age, four suffer from acute malnutrition, with "a certain worsening situation" in the current context.

Sérgio Calundungo stressed that there are very concrete ideas of some actions that can be taken, namely the relaunch of "a very strong agenda in relation to the fight against poverty, a concern of many Angolans", with a reflection on what failed in previous initiatives.

The cross-cutting theme of agriculture was present in the three areas that make up the council – economic, business and social – with proposals "exactly from the perspective of each of these areas", which will be gathered in a single document, highlighted the CES coordinator.

Adviser Wanderley Ribeiro underlined that the indicators on agriculture in Angola are still far from ideal to consider their participation in economic diversification, especially with regard to training.

"We have a very large lack of knowledge training (...) the country has a very large deficit of researchers in the field of agricultural scientific research and the workforce that is available also needs some reinforcement", he stressed.

Wanderley Ribeiro said that the role that agriculture has for rural development was reflected, to allow a deeper analysis of the rural exodus, and "there is no appetite among young people to do agriculture" due to the lack of profitability.

"Our proposal is a strong bet on knowledge, on man, at first in line with what we have heard from the executive in his 2050 strategy, but it is necessary to do it with some speed, because Angola is urgent and the priority is where the resource is and not where the speech is", he said.

The council also discussed the opinion on the Government's Agenda 2050, with the contribution of the three areas that comprise it, to be delivered to the President of the Republic.
