About 40 percent of the sugar consumed in the country is produced by Biocom

Biocom covers about 40 percent of the country's white sugar needs. The information was provided by Luís Bagorro Júnior, the company's deputy general director, who also informed that Biocom also guarantees 50 percent of the ethanol produced in Angola.

From the harvest in May, according to the official, 128 thousand tons of sugar were produced by the company. This number reflects a growth of around 8000 tons compared to the same period of the previous year.

Furthermore, in the period in question, 18,000 cubic meters of ethanol as well as 64,000 megawatts of renewable energy were also produced, he informed, speaking at the conference on agribusiness, within the scope of the 37th edition of FILDA, writes Angop.

Luís Júnior emphasized that the company is believed to be "playing an important role" both in the "development of agro-industry" and in the "inclusion and training" of people.

"We believe, therefore, that we are playing a crucial role, both in the development of agro-industry and in the inclusion and training of thousands of Angolans, especially in Malanje province", he considered, quoted by Angop.

The company is located in the Agro-industrial Pole of Capanda, province of Malanje, having started production in 2014 and currently has 3,400 workers.
