Cabinda: maritime passenger terminal should be concluded this month

The government has accelerated the completion of several structural projects in Cabinda province. Among the projects that are in the Executive's sights are the construction works of the Cabinda Maritime Passenger Terminal, which, according to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cabinda port company, José João Kuvingua, should be concluded this month.

The responsible made it known that the works are on a good path and that if they continue like this, they will be finished very soon.

"The works are running at a good pace in terms of the construction of the breakwater pier and the passenger terminal," he began by saying.

"If we continue at this pace, this month we will conclude the passenger terminal" and "we will have the breakwater pier very advanced," he informed, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola.

Ricardo de Abreu, Minister of Transport, who was speaking at the opening of the 13th Consultative Council of the Ministry of Transport, confirmed the existence of "accelerated work for the conclusion of projects associated to the creation of new ways and systems of access of people and goods to the province of Cabinda.

The governor stated that with the conclusion of the breakwater and the terminal, and with the entry into operation of catamarans, the Cabotage System North should be guaranteed this year.

Cited by Angop, Ricardo de Abreu also took the opportunity to mention the execution of some adaptation works of the airport and the increase of flights with more competitive prices. The responsible considered that these measures will help to improve the air connections in that region.

He also talked about the Caio Deepwater Port. The holder of the Transport portfolio, informed that the works will be resumed and that the first phase of the initiative will be finished.

He also underlined that the sector is committed to re-launch the coastal maritime transportation of passengers, which has the North of Angola as its priority.

Miguel dos Santos de Oliveira, Cabinda's vice-governor for Political and Social Affairs, took the opportunity to express his concern about the geographic position of Cabinda.

According to him, the position of the province has generated many obstacles regarding the mobility of citizens of the province to the rest of the country, writes Angop.
