First lady advocates inclusive education

The Republic's First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, defended the joining of efforts in combating the exclusion and discrimination of children with special educational needs, at the end of the webinar on the theme “For an inclusive school: Giftedness in children and young people – how to identify and integrate”.

"All together, parents, educators, society, decision makers and legislators, we must fight against fears and inertia, from the outset, by sharing information and raising awareness, to conscious professional intervention in the field", he appealed.

Ana Dias Lourenço understands that "only in this way will we be able to fight the exclusion and discrimination of children with special support needs from society, promoting their integration, first in the educational context, and then in the labor market".

The first lady also said that it is necessary to provide society with scientific knowledge about special educational needs. "To this end, it is urgent to create training spaces for inclusion, effective school leaders, motivated and confident teachers, all capable of facing an increasingly demanding and challenging school", she said.

This was the third and last webinar organized by the First Lady's Office, with the purpose of launching the second conference of the cycle "Educate for Citizenship", which will take place in November this year, with the theme "For an Inclusive School – intervention in terms of autism, dyslexia and giftedness", refers to a government statement that VerAngola had access to.

The meetings also aimed at the production, reproduction and sharing of knowledge and knowledge that contribute to changing people's lives, in the different contexts in which they live.

Ana Dias Lourenço also highlighted that the meetings made it possible to understand the pressing need to invest in the organization of a strong pedagogical device, through the training of kindergarten educators and basic education teachers.

"Social educators, kindergarten educators and the academic community in general will thus be able to identify and understand the cognitive abilities, learning traits, as well as the motivation and personality traits of children with special educational needs, so that they can then intervene in promoting the appropriate educational conditions for their successful school integration", he referred.

The first lady also considered it important that the family feel supported by the school in integration with social support services.

"The school's response to the child with special educational needs must involve the family, so that the intervention strategy promotes psychomotor, cognitive and social development simultaneously," she added.

The webinar, promoted by the Office of the First Lady of the Republic in partnership with the Faculty of Social Service of the University of Luanda and the Superior School of Education of Paula Frassinetti of Porto, was also supported by the Staff Office of the President of the Republic.
