Coffee production continues to rise. Government struggles to reactivate “very important” industry

Revitalizing the coffee industry continues to be one of the objectives of the country, which year after year sees the numbers of agricultural campaigns rising, in the hope of reaching the results obtained before the war, in which national production was one of the pillars of the economy.

:

In this year's campaign, more than 350,000 Robusta and Arabica coffee seedlings have been produced to date. The numbers of the previous year were at 240,460 seedlings.

The data were advanced by the National Coffee Institute (INCA) and partners, and the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, João Cunha, said that the production of seedlings is due to the continuous need for the renewal process of coffee plantations.

Considering the matter of "great importance", the official said that the ministry provided 104,220 seedlings to farmers, in order to enable the installation of 54 hectares of new coffee plantations in the provinces of Huambo, Bié and Huila.

João Cunha also said, cited by Angop, that around 100,000 new coffee plants, of the robusta variety, were placed in a permanent place by private producers, on farms in the provinces of Bengo, Uíge, and Cuanza Norte and Sul.

The Secretary of State also appealed to potential financiers for support to private producers and families organized in agricultural associations and cooperatives, in order to witness a harmonious and gradual growth in production levels.
