This act by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the Portuguese government, which was represented by Augusto Santos Silva, took place the day before the Luanda summit of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

Before the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, having the Portuguese Head of State by his side, Augusto Santos Silva referred to this donation of 50 thousand vaccines from AstraZeneca.

The Minister of State and Foreign Affairs said that the Portuguese cooperation program foresees the delivery of at least 5 percent of the vaccines, in a total that will exceed one million for Portuguese-speaking countries.

"Before Angola, they have already gone to Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique. Soon, shipments of vaccines will also go to Sao Tome and Principe and East Timor," he said.

In this protocol act, the head of state chose to remain silent, leaving the word to the minister Augusto Santos Silva.

"Portugal always said that, throughout the second half of this year, this process would be accelerated. The CPLP is also made of cooperation among us, supporting each other," he said.

About the summit in Luanda, starting Saturday, the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs referred that the executive secretary is proposed by Timor-Leste.

"Which means that the first series of nominations ends on Saturday and the rotation among all the CPLP member states is completed," he said.

In his remarks, the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs also took the opportunity to "thank Angola's enormous cooperation in organizing repatriation and humanitarian flights in the most difficult period of the covid-19 pandemic last year."

"Angola's cooperation was absolutely exceptional," he added.
