Covid-19: Angola reports 116 more cases, five deaths and 28 recoveries

Angola registered in the last 24 hours more 116 cases of covid-19, five deaths and 28 people recovered from the disease, announced the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

Of the new cases, 46 were reported in Luanda, 18 in Lunda Norte, 15 in Huambo, 12 in Cunene, six in Moxico, six in Huila, five in Malanje, four in Cabinda, three in Lunda Sul and one in Benguela, between 4 months and 77 years, being 77 males and 49 females.

In the same period, there were five deaths, of four men and one woman, between 44 and 94 years, and 28 people recovered from the disease, between 9 months and 73 years.

The laboratories processed 2968 samples by RT PCR, out of a total of 670,354 samples processed to date, with a positivity rate of 5.9 percent.

Today, Angolan centers applied 7132 doses of covid-19 vaccine, accounting for 1,565,612 doses administered since March 2.

Angola has 39,491 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 925 have died, 34,047 have recovered from the disease, 4519 are active (including 11 in critical condition and 21 serious), 87 patients are hospitalized and 185 people are in institutional quarantine.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,996,519 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 184.4 million cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to the most recent tally by Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India or South Africa.
