The official said that the funds were made available on the 1st of this month. Cited by Jornal de Angola, Michel Kouakou also said that the money will be used in the provinces of Benguela and Kwanza Sul, over a period of three years, aiming to expand the diagnosis, testing and treatment of these diseases.

Speaking during the opening of the national workshop on community health in Angola, the official revealed that the UN/AIDS has shown concern regarding community diseases.

At a time when the country is facing the covid-19 pandemic, the official says it is necessary to alert and make people aware of health issues.

In his turn, António Coelho, president of the Angolan Network of AIDS Services Organizations (ANASO), said that the workshop - whose central theme is "The impact of covid-19 on community health in Angola" - will last three days and will focus on the current situation of community health in the country in times of pandemic. It will also try to find answers to the main problems identified, he added.

António Coelho admitted that the country is experiencing difficult days in terms of the increase in cases and deaths caused by malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and covid-19, and that community health needs to find answers, writes Jornal de Angola.
