Mercado da Vila: a restaurant that is also a butcher is the latest 'premiere' at Serpa Pinto

It is a restaurant that was born in the city of Luanda during the pandemic period, but that does not mean that it has smaller ambitions. Mercado da Vila arrived at Serpa Pinto at the end of last week and promises to come to stay, with a concept – at least – original.

:

In the same space there are two ideas and two services: the first is a premium butcher, with 100% national meat and charcuterie, and the second, a restaurant/tasca, where the same national products can be tasted, on a menu entirely dedicated to meat (with the exception of a fish dish, cod).

This space is the second of the duo of investors Tiago Pombeiro and Cláudio Figueiredo, who started the Mercado da Vila operation in 2019, in Vila Alice.

The Vila Market – Serpa Pinto represented an investment of 250 million kwanzas, with only 10 percent of the value being through bank financing and the remainder coming from equity capital, in the logic of the reinvestment of these entrepreneurs.

Tiago Pombeiro, partner and CEO of the company, said in a statement sent to VerAngola: "This new Mercado da Vila is the realization of what has always been in our concept genesis – bringing the butcher and the restaurant together in the same space. Our customer is here. to consume quality products, 100% national, and have access to the same products that make up our menu, in the butchery and delicatessen section. The pandemic did not allow us to implement this concept in the first space in Vila Alice and we chose to keep it there only butchery and charcuterie... now we finally have the Vila Market – Serpa Pinto, where we debut what we thought from the beginning and where we managed to give the visibility and projection that we always wanted for the brand".

Mercado da Vila is located in Largo Serpa Pinto, in front of Luanda Medical Center, and had the support and partnership of Refriango, through the Tigra beer, which also signs the "Mercado da Vila by Tigra" brand.

The businessmen's expansion plan foresees starting the works of a new space still in 2021, this time in Talatona, with the time period depending on the impact of this new operation and on greater support from the national banking sector.

Mercado da Vila is responsible for 27 direct jobs and about 25 indirect ones and, in addition to the two commercial spaces serving the public, the brand also supplies most of the capital's restaurants, hotels and supermarkets, covering a significant mass of the channel. HORECA in general.
