Urban art mural depicts historical and cultural past of CPLP countries

The façade of the Brazil Cultural Center in Angola (CCBA), at Rua dos Mercadores, won new colors: an urban art mural was painted that depicts the historical and cultural past of the countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). Inaugurated last week, the mural is divided into panels, each one representing a country of the CPLP.

The mural was painted by Angolan artists, and the activity was coordinated by Thó Simões.

With several panels, each one dedicated to a CPLP country, the ruins of Mbanza Kongo, in Luanda, stand out.

The inauguration was in charge of the Vice President of Brazil Hamilton Mourão, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil Carlos França. On his Facebook page, the Brazilian Vice President wrote that he unveiled "the inauguration plaque of the urban art mural, which depicts the historical and cultural heritage of the nine member countries of the CPLP, located on the facade of the CCBA.

The Brazilian leader highlighted the paintings that concern his country and Angola, indicating that they represent the ties between the two countries: "The paintings of Cais do Valongo, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and of the ruins of Mbanza Kongo, in Luanda, are highlighted, portraying the historical relationship and cultural ties between Brazil and Angola.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Jomo Fortunato, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment and Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
