The decision to leave Angola off the list is due to the selection criteria used by Brussels. According to Expresso, the countries chosen have an average of infections per 100,000 inhabitants over the last 14 days or a lower average than in the European Union on 15 June.
Angola is joined by the United States, Brazil and India. China - the country where the outbreak of the new coranavirus was detected - will be able to fly to EU countries, but with the condition that European countries can also enter Chinese territory.
The list prepared by the EU does not include any country that has Portuguese as its official language. From Africa, only Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Rwanda will be allowed on European soil. The list of countries with the green light to enter Europe also includes Australia, Georgia, Canada, Japan, Montenegro, New Zealand, Thailand, South Korea, Serbia and Uruguay.
According to the same newspaper, there was no consensus among the ambassadors for this list, and its approval depends on a qualified majority, since the EU member states have yet to decide whether or not to accept it.
