Angola Telecom promises “infrastructure sharing” with Africell

Angola Telecom, a public telecommunications company, said the entry of the fourth mobile operator in the country, Africell Global, "is not a problem", guaranteeing "availability to share infrastructure" with the Lebanese company.

:

"We are very committed to being an infrastructure sharing company and if it depends on Angola Telecom, Africell will not take long to enter the market, because our infrastructure will be available from a commercial point of view," said the president of the Board of Directors of Angola Telecom, Adilson dos Santos.

According to the official, who responded to Lusa during a press conference, the opening of Angola Telecom will contribute so that the new operator "does not have the need to build sites, towers and fibers many times".

As it is not opposed to the entry of the new operator, he argued, the Angolan public telecommunications company and the Lebanese Africell have already held "regular talks".

"We are already having some conversation with Africell, it will not be a problem for us because we are not antagonistic in relation to this", underlined Adilson dos Santos.

The official was speaking at a press conference in Luanda about the company's challenges in terms of infrastructure and investments.
Lebanese Africell Global won the public tender to become the fourth telecommunications operator in Angola, as the Government announced earlier this month in a statement.

The Lebanese company was selected in March to submit a bid after being the only company to formalize an application for the tender.

The Government, through the interministerial working group, "considering the observations made by the evaluation committee in the award report", informed that "the candidacy of the company Africell Global Holding Ltd is the winner of the public tender for the award of the 4th Title Global Unified Service (TGU) for the provision of public electronic communications services ".

Africell is an international operator, with 18 years of activity in the telecommunications sector, providing mobile, Internet, subscription television and 'mobile money' services to more than 12 million customers.
