Vandalism hampers reopening of public telephone booths

The president of the state-owned telecommunications company Angola Telecom considered that "acts of vandalism" are holding back the restructuring and reopening of public telephone booths in the country, which are part of the institution's service portfolio.

Angola has many public telephone booths closed as a result of acts of vandalism, said Adilson dos Santos, who was speaking this Tuesday at a press conference.

According to the chairman of the Board of Directors of Angola Telecom, public telephone booths "suffer from a problem that is vandalism".

“Every time we have a public booth, if it is not in a minimally protected place, it is vandalized. We continue to provide our service, but this service is impacted by public booths that are vandalized and that we have to restore ”, he said when asked by Lusa.

Without advancing the current number of public booths in operation, Adilson dos Santos said, however, that the company continues to receive requests from institutions for the installation of telephone booths.

"Our cabins are supported by the Angola Telecom network and we will continue to do so, as it is a recurring service that is part of our services portfolio", he stressed.

Angola Telecom's challenges in the infrastructure and investment chapter were addressed at this press conference, which took place at the company's headquarters in Luanda.
