According to the African Union's Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), there are 10,151 dead, 272 more than on Tuesday, and 404,937 cases, a further 11,632.

The number of recovered is 192,646, plus 5839.

Southern Africa records the highest number of cases (157,057) and accounts for 2735 deaths, the vast majority concentrated in South Africa, the country with the most infected across the continent (151,209) and with 2657 fatalities.

North Africa leads in the number of deaths (4296), having passed 100 thousand infections (101,112).

West Africa counts 1323 deaths out of 76,355 infected, East Africa records 1065 fatalities in 36,647 cases, while in Central Africa there are 732 deaths out of 33,766 infections.

Egypt, the African country with the most fatalities, accounts for 2953 deaths and 68,311 cases of infection, followed by South Africa and then Algeria, with 912 fatalities and 13,907 infected.

Among the five most affected countries is Nigeria, with 590 dead and 25,694 infected, and Sudan, with 572 deaths, despite having a lower number of infections (9257).

As for the Portuguese-speaking African countries, Guinea-Bissau has the most infections and deaths, with 1654 cases and 24 fatalities, according to the latest data from local authorities and Africa CDC.

Cape Verde has 1267 infections and 15 deaths, while Mozambique counts 889 infected patients and six dead.

São Tomé and Príncipe accounts for 713 cases and 13 deaths and Angola has 284 confirmed cases of covid-19 and 13 deaths.

Equatorial Guinea, which is part of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), has 2001 cases and maintains 32 deaths, according to Africa CDC.
