The announcement was made by Tomas Ulciny, who ended his four-year term in Angola and this Friday said goodbye to the President, João Lourenço, at the Presidential Palace in Luanda.
"Angola is part of our budget support programme and the European Union has a package of an additional 20 million euros for an area that will be chosen by the government," the Czech said, stressing that the figure can be increased in the future and will be transferred by the end of the year.
For the European official, in addition to the financial value, this donation shows the "confidence of the European Union in the reforms in Angola" and serves as a reference for financial institutions.
Tomas Ulicny recalled that the European Union has several projects in the area of cooperation, including bank transfers for the most vulnerable groups, worth 23 million euros, as well as the FRESAN project, which aims to alleviate or mitigate the impact of drought in the three southern provinces of the country (Cunene, Huila and Namibe), which includes 65 million euros, in addition to 22 million euros for training, which are priority areas.
"I'm sure we have achieved a lot," said Tomas Ulicny, who will now be the Czech Republic's new special envoy for the Sahel region.
