Angolans will be able to exchange old banknotes by 2025

Angolans will have five years to replace the old kwanza notes with the new family of notes. The exchange can be done at the Banco Nacional de Angola (BNA).

Angolans will be able to exchange their money in commercial banks by December 2021, writes Expansão. After this deadline, the exchange can be made until 2025 at the BNA's premises.

For the time being, there is still no indication of when the old banknotes will stop circulating. For the time being, both old and new banknotes will be circulating simultaneously: "The current banknotes are still valid and accepted as means of payment, without restrictions", reveals the BNA in a statement published on its website.

"The banknotes in the two series will circulate simultaneously and after a while only the new banknotes will circulate", indicates the banknote.

However, the BNA does not state when the definitive change to the new family of kwanzas will take place.

The new banknotes will enter into circulation later this month: "From 30 July, the Banco Nacional de Angola will put the new kwanzas banknotes into circulation".
