"The municipality of Matala will receive a signal for telephone operations from the North American mobile network Africell in October 2025, with a focus on boosting the information and communication technology sector to drive the growth and socioeconomic development of communities and public and private institutions," the municipal administration of Matala reported in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
During a courtesy meeting between the regional delegation of the operator and the local administration, Rui Correia announced that "economic, social and demographic potential are among the factors that dictated that the municipality of Matala was selected and chosen for the expansion of the operator's services, which will bring Internet to educational establishments, hospitals and other public and private institutions."
According to the regional director of Africell, the operator in that municipality "will operate in the areas of arts, culture, agriculture, livestock, entrepreneurship, community sports, and the environment, and will support the organization of business fairs that may be promoted by the local government and business organizations, with the aim of facilitating communication with customers, partners, and investors through online platforms and social networks."
The manager also spoke about job creation, pointing out that the implementation of the operator's services in the aforementioned municipality will allow the creation of approximately 100 jobs.
"With the installation of Africell's services in Matala, Rui Correia reported that the company expects to create approximately 100 jobs, in addition to bringing digital tools and management systems that allow for the automation of processes, the optimization of communication, and the efficient management of resources to increase productivity and reduce costs in public institutions and business organizations," says the note.
In turn, the deputy municipal administrator for the Economic and Financial Area in Matala, Esmeralda César, "asked that the operator bring essential tools for the transformation and development of various sectors and to boost innovation and competitiveness in different areas", having also guaranteed "that the local administration of the State will provide all institutional support so that the company's objectives can be achieved".
It is worth mentioning that Matala will be the third municipality in Huíla to receive Africell's signal, after the operator arrived in the municipalities of Lubango and Humpata in 2023.
