President changes embassies of South Africa and Ghana

President João Lourenço made changes to the embassies of South Africa and Ghana, dismissing their respective ambassadors. Still on the diplomatic mission front, the head of state also held meetings this Thursday with the ambassadors of Namibia and the Netherlands, both of whom are finishing their missions.

Regarding the embassy changes, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, which VerAngola had access, the Angolan ambassador to South Africa, Rui Xavier, was dismissed, as was the Angolan ambassador to Ghana, João Quiosa.

"The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, signed today [Thursday] a decree dismissing Rui Orlando Ferreira de Ceita da Silva Xavier from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of South Africa, subsequently appointing him to the same post in the Republic of Ghana," the statement reads.

Also on Thursday, the head of state "terminated the mission of João Baptista Domingos Quiosa as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Ghana and appointed him Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola to the Republic of South Africa," the statement emphasizes.

Still on the diplomatic mission front, João Lourenço also met with two ambassadors this Thursday, finishing their missions.

These are the ambassadors of the Netherlands and Namibia.

"Tsjeard Roelf Horkstra, who in recent years headed the Dutch diplomatic mission in Luanda, was at the Presidential Palace this Thursday morning to offer farewell greetings to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço," the Presidency of the Republic reported.

The Namibian ambassador was also at the Presidential Palace to offer farewell greetings to the head of state.

"The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received today [Thursday] the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Namibia to Angola, Patrick Nandago, who is finishing his mission. The purpose was to offer farewell greetings to the Head of State from the diplomat of the sister country," the Presidency reported.
